In March the Federal government was given a "must try harder" D+ rating for cyber security. While this is bad news for Internet security, the good news is that the University of California, Berkeley is to lead a 19 million (USD) cyber security research gig. This will benefit everybody - especially students interested in online degrees in cyber security training.

Online Degrees in Internet Security

If you are a high school graduate interested in online degrees in Internet security, there are various options open to you. You could choose either an associate's or bachelor's online degree in software engineering with a major in Internet security. If you are an IT professional needing training in Internet Security, you could opt for a master's degree in this area.

Herzing College offers students the opportunity to learn exactly what it takes to succeed in business and technology.

Depending on your level of cyber security training, you can expect to study some or all of the following courses in your online degree:

  • Security Essentials
  • Intrusion Detection

  • Operating System Security
  • Survivability
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management
  • Disaster Recovery

What Can You Do With Cyber Security Training?

With US government 'nearly failing' in cyber security, and civilian agencies expected to boost cyber-security spending by 27 percent over the next five years, your online degree training could provide you with an excellent career in government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation are also actively looking for professionals with cyber security training.

If you are an existing IT professional, your cyber security training could give your career an invaluable boost in your own department. Your online degree in Internet security will give you plenty of opportunities both to help your country and forge an exciting career.
