Yes I Know I Need Adobe Training, But What about My Photos?
by Mary Hobson
Career Training Directory Columnist I purchased a digital camera for the first time some three months ago. "Unbelievably easy to use" said the shop assistant, "you'll be able to take your photographs and then get rid of all the terrible errors, such as red eye. Just download Adobe Photoshop, it does everything you could possibly want, and a lot more, too". So I did. At my age, and with my technical background, I should have known better. Who Needs Adobe Education? So I played about with my camera, got it working, took some pictures, and decided I needed to download them to see what I could do. I transferred my pictures to my PC and downloaded Adobe Photoshop to play with it. < I had no Adobe education, I knew nothing about what I was trying to do, but with high hopes I expected to get results. How could I be so naive? Here's My Take... Let me fill you in on some details. I should be computer literate; I programmed as a full-time job in the 1970s, and have converted as an informed user to PCs since the early 80's. On a good day, and wearing the right pair of spectacles, I can tackle most software and make it work (as long as I understand what I am trying to achieve). I have come to the conclusion (as have many people before me) that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing; having come to this conclusion, I of course manage to forget it every time I start with a new application. I Need Adobe Photoshop Training! The answer was to find some Adobe training. I needed an Adobe Photoshop training course, not only to be able to make the package do what I wanted, but also to find out what I wanted to do. Adobe training, like most other software training, means that you have to formulate what kinds of tasks you can do with the software, as well as working out how to do them. This is, for me, one of the most interesting parts of any software training, and Adobe Photoshop training is no different. I realized that I would be able to manipulate the images I was inputting to the package, but I had no idea how I could improve quality of image, color, shape and even merge images. Online Adobe Training - The Easy Way I found my Adobe Photoshop training course online, so that I could study it at my leisure. I enjoy online courses and programs, as long as I can see the progress I'm making. In this case, it was great, because my online Adobe training allowed me to use my own images to practice on. I was producing photos that I wanted for my own records immediately. I also became really interested in what else I could use the package for, and I've started to use it for a newsletter I produce on a regular basis, with a lot of ideas for new applications. Training is a nuisance, and it takes time and effort to do it and get results. Once you have gone through the pain barrier, however, it pays you back a hundred-fold, not only with the speed that you produce really good results, but also with new ideas, better long term professional presentation, and general confidence that you can get something done - even if it's just getting rid of the redeye in your photos.
