By Angelique Gervais

If you are like me, you have spent hours scanning clip art disks or the internet for that illusive perfect frame for a desktop publishing project. Make the most of a little simple Adobe Photoshop training and create your own.
Simple Steps to Photoshop Success
- Pull up the project that you wish to frame.
- Lock all of the layers of the project together or alternately save it as a PNG, jpg, or some other flattened format.
- If you are unsure of the size the piece is click on the image tab then the image size. Knowing that you can decide upon the size the frame you need to make should be easier.
- Open a new document in the size that you need the frame to be.
- Use the shape creation tool and select the color by using the eyedropper tool and pull a tone from the project or use something universal like silver, gold or black.
- Create a box the size of the work frame.
- Go into layer, layer style and blending options this is your key to the creation of great frames.
- Adobe Photoshop training will help you to realize all of the potential of your Adobe program but investigation will help you to learn to love it even before you sign up.
- Move down toward the bottom of the list of enhancement for the layer and you will find something called pattern overlay. Make an "x" in the selection box and click on the words to pull up a more details. You can now select different patters and in doing so, you will be adding effects to the frame such as a brushed metal look or a pebbled effect. Try a few different patterns, even using the little arrow at the top to change palettes until you find the effect you desire.
- Next there is a spot that says blend mode with a selection box beside it. Go through that list until the overlay is achieving the depth or intensity that you want.
- With your Adobe Photoshop training you will learn what all of those modes mean and how to anticipate the results but for now, playing will give you what you need.
- Now, still in the blending options dialogue box, go about half way up and find the bevel and emboss selection and click again on the words to access more detailed options. For the outside layer of the frame, choose the up radio button by the direction heading. Play with the size and depth sliders until you are happy with that you have the size frame you wish.
- From there just keep adding smaller layers and manipulating them in different ways. Before you know it you have a fabulous frame.
None of these simple tips can in any way replace the level of professionalism you will attain with Adobe Photoshop training. In order to get the most from your Adobe Photoshop program, take a class. You won't regret it.
