3D Drawing Programs Help Focus and Streamline Your Work
by Gabby Hyman
There's been a proliferation of 3D graphics programs on the market over the last five years. If you're working in the design-rendering field, you've been exposed to quite a few of them. If you're beginning, you may want to take a course in AutoCAD. This 3D program is often the choice of mechanical, architectural, or electrical design offices around the globe.
One of the robust features in AutoCad is its "associative dimensioning" which automates all of your modified geometric changes into the entire drawing. AutoCAD 2005 has new features that streamline your project, enabling team collaboration. Many 3D drawing tasks are now completely automated within the program. You can automatically build data tables, update titles and callouts, and make changes to all the layers in your drawing with a single click. With this 3D graphic program, you should not have to draw anything more than once to incorporate the graphic element into all the sheets in your rendering. More than 12,000 symbols are associated with ready made components (say a light fixture or cabinet) which you can reproduce with one click, wherever they’re needed in the overall project. Is Online Training Just the Ticket? If you're a committed and driven self-starter, online AutoCAD training can be a quick and efficient way to learn this powerful 3D drawing program. But online courses are not compressed like on-campus workshops, so it's up to you to put in the 10-15 hours a week that many of these online 3D programs require. If you prosper in the presence of a mentor with the hands-on approach to learning, then you may want to consider attending a class where you can receive immediate feedback.
